Mutual Aide Cardiac Arrest Save
Sat, Aug 6th, 2016 7:26:00 pm Around 20:00 on August 1st, QRS 33 had just got back in quarters from an EMS call in the Borough when they got hit out for a "Difficulty Breathing" call in Millcreek Twp. The QRS was staffed by Firefighter Ahnert as well as Firefighter/EMT Darkes. While responding, the call was upgraded to cardiac arrest. QRS 33 was the first EMS unit to arrive on scene. The crew members entered the residence to find a family member of the patient perfroming CPR instructed by the 911 dispatcher on the telephone. The crew members took over CPR efforts. They performed three rounds of CPR and executed two defibulations onto the patient. Ambulance 150 of Newmanstown shortly arrived there after as well as two Paramedics from Western Berks Ambulance. The patient was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Enroute to the hospital, the patient regained pulses, a blood pressure, and began to breathe on his own. The last update was that the patient was in critical condition at the Good Samaritan Hospital. We would like to thank the crew members of Ambulance 150 as well as Westen Berks Ambulance 650 for their assistance.
